Background
Jim Perry has conducted leader coaching as part of his job, both formally and informally, since 1980. He has successfully coached Division Presidents, Vice Presidents and other functional Directors in large organizations as well as Owners, Chairman of the Board, Presidents, and CFO's, CIO's, Managers, of small to medium Companies and non-Profit Organizations for years.
Approach
*- Diagnostic Phase:
- Spend time conducting an in-depth interview with Sheldon Edmondson (possibly "shadow" him for more insights) to set a baseline:
- Wheel of life exercise; job performance wheel exercise; etc.
- What are you doing?
- What are you trying to do?
- What is working?
- What isn't working?
- Self assessment vs. the CAPE Leadership Model
- Conduct an in-depth interview with Troy Blackmon to confirm expectations and also answer similar questions
- Conduct one-on-one interviews with some of Sheldon's peers (on the ET)
- Conduct one-on-one interviews with Sheldon's subordinate team
- Conduct an "Everything DiSC 363 For Leaders Survey"
*- Set plan in place to get positive results:
- Personal time and office management
- Functional accountability goals and objectives from each direct report (what do they need from Sheldon to be successful?)
- Set communication and interaction goals and objectives with Sheldon's peers (ET+)
*- Metrics to Assure Progress:
o
- Measure how we as a three person Team (coach, boss, and leader) will know it is working and we are making a successful leader better…Great!
- Set quantitative goals
- Set qualitative goals
- Set targeted achievement dates in conjunction with these goals
*- I will discuss this in greater detail when we meet and answer any questions you may have at that time.
